My Story

Hi! My name is Megumi Bacher. I’m a photographer, and mother of two.

Photography has always been an important part of my life and my family's life. I love the fact that my grandfather, a photographer, captured many great moments in my childhood through his work. Because of his photographs, I can revisit those wonderful moments. Without Grandpa’s lasting images, over time precious moments may have been lost or forgotten.

Originally from Tokyo where I spent my formative years, I moved to Los Angeles in 1998. Shortly after, following in the steps of my grandfather, began my studies in photography at a college.

Now, having children of my own, I am able to document their lives as well as respond to their questions about their parents and grandparents as they browse through our family photo albums. Photography is the perfect way to capture important moments in time; it not only enables me to create lasting memories for generations but also provides images through which they can bond.

My professional goal is to capture those special moments and memories for clients, thereby providing lasting photographs that families and friends may enjoy and cherish always.

WHY I DO THIS…

Life moves fast. “Blink-and-you-missed-it!” fast. You know this already — you feel it every time you realize the kid who once fit in the crook of your arm now needs help reaching something on a high shelf.

You've captured thousands of moments on your phone. The silly ones, the sweet ones, the "hold on, let me get this" ones. But scroll back through all of them and ask yourself honestly — how many have you in them? Really in them. Present, laughing, holding someone you love?

Here's the thing no one tells you: your children won't remember what you looked like when they were small. Not really. They'll piece you together from whatever photographs exist. And you deserve to be remembered as the person you actually are — someone who showed up, who loved fiercely, who was fully there.

A real family portrait isn't about looking perfect. It's about leaving evidence.

Evidence that you were present. That you were joyful. That your family loved each other in this particular, irreplaceable way — right now, at this exact season of your lives.

Your grandchildren will want to know you. Let's make sure they can.
